Patuxai (20 min walk): A war monument located in the center of Vientiane. This monument was dedicated to those who fought in the struggle for independence from France. Visitors are more than welcomed to walk to the top for a breathtaking view of Vientiane. There is a visitor fee of LAK 10,000. Close to Grand Hotel in Vientiane

That Luang (30 min walk): A gold covered stupa which is revered as the national monument and symbol of Laos. It is believed that the stupa was built in the 1st century by missionaries from the Mauryan Empire. It is also believed to contain relics of Lord Buddha.
Cope Visitor Centre (20 min walk): An exhibition centre and museum showcasing the history of bombings in Laos and related disabilities.

That Dam (20 min walk): Having a literal translation to Black Stupa, this monument is believed to have been inhabited by a seven headed naga who tried to protect the locals from the invasion against Siamese army in 1827.
Wat Si Sakat (20 min walk): A buddhist temple that formerly held the emerald buddha. Unlike other Lao buddhist temples, this temple was inspired by Wat Saket in Bangkok, also the reason to why it has Siamese style architecture. Nowadays you can find a cloister wall that has 2000 ceramic and silver buddha images. The temple also has a museum.
ITECC (30 minutes walk): Lao International Trade Exhibition & Convention Centre is the largest venue in Vientiane with a mall selling various goods. Located right next to it is Ocean Park.
Talat Sao (15 min walk): Having a literal translation to ‘Morning Market’, this is the oldest market in Vientiane. This market is interesting since it has an old struce in the middle and modern structure on the side. The market opens from 7.00am to 5.00pm daily.
